Sesc RJ Flamengo defeats Sesi Bauru at Maracanãzinho and closes in on the Superliga lead

Sesc RJ Flamengo put on a show in front of the Flamengo fans and won again in the Women's Superliga. This Friday (March 14.03th), Bernardinho's team beat Sesi Bauru 3-0, with sets of 25-19, 25-18 and 25-20, at Maracanãzinho, in the ninth round of the second leg. With this result, the Rio de Janeiro team reached 49 points and closed the gap on the leader Gerdau Minas, which has 50.

The home team entered the court aggressively and dominated two sets. Sesi Bauru even led the third set 14-9, but Sesc RJ Flamengo rallied to close out the match in straight sets. Opposite hitter Tainara was the top scorer of the match with 20 points, followed by outside hitter Simone Lee, who scored 19. The Olympic medalist with the Brazilian National Team was awarded the VivaVôlei Trophy for best player on the court and highlighted the strength of the team in overcoming three consecutive defeats.

"We went through a very painful time, but it made us grow. We know that the most important phase of the championship is coming and each one of us gave our all for the group, because that is our main objective. We had a conversation and understood that one of the focuses would be playing for each other. So, I was very happy with today's game. I managed to take more risks and bring out what I know how to do best, which is my power. But this trophy belongs to all of us. The barometer of this season, for me, is not my individual performances, but the victories we will achieve collectively," said Tainara.

Sesc RJ Flamengo faces an away challenge. Next Thursday (March 19.03), the Rubro-Negro will face Renasce Sorocaba at 21 pm, at the Geraldão gymnasium in Recife.
